A Second Time Around

Picture of A Second Time Around

Some love stories begin with fireworks. Ours began much earlier—with friendship, faith, and a timing that only God could orchestrate.

***

We first met when we were just 13 year old freshman at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. As teenagers, we grew up together and even went to senior prom together—a memory we still treasure and one we are excited to share as part of this celebration.

***

Although our paths drifted after high school, life eventually brought us back to one another. In the years between, we both experienced joys, heartbreaks, lessons, and growth. By the time God reunited us, we were no longer searching for a fairy tale—we were searching for something real. And that is exactly what we found.

***

We first got married in 2015 and were blessed to raise two beautiful daughters, building a life filled with love, laughter, and grace. Through the years, we have celebrated victories, weathered challenges, and discovered that we are stronger together than we could ever be apart. At the heart of it all has been our faith and the understanding that God was writing a story far greater than anything we could have planned ourselves.

***

When we were first married, Katrina's Godfather, Uncle Mike, had the honor of marrying us. He and his wife, Tee Tammi, shared one of the most beautiful love stories we had ever witnessed. Tee Tammi's marriage to Uncle Mike was her second marriage, and because he loved her so deeply, he dreamed of writing a book called "A Second Time Around" to tell the story of their love. Sadly, he passed away before he was able to write it.

***

Until Katrina and I found our way back to one another, we had never seen a man love his wife more than Uncle Mike loved Tee Tammi. His devotion, kindness, and unwavering love left a lasting impression on us. So when we chose the theme “A Second Time Around,” it was not only because it beautifully describes our own journey—it is also a tribute to Uncle Mike and the extraordinary love story he and Tee Tammi shared.

***

To us, A Second Time Around represents redemption, growth, and the beautiful truth that God’s plans are always worth the wait.

***

This chapter is not about starting over—it is about starting again with wisdom, gratitude, and hearts full of hope. As we celebrate this new beginning, we are reminded that every twist and turn along the way led us here.

***

We are so thankful for the family and friends who have loved, supported, and prayed for us throughout our journey. Thank you for being part of our story and for celebrating this season with us. We cannot wait to make new memories together.

***

With love,

Sam & Katrina
